Creative Writing - Script

We are learning to write scripts to create a play.

We know we are successful if our script has:
- multiple characters
- a setting
- character speech
- stage direction (in a different colour to the speech)

Once we have written our scripts we are creating the plays using Puppet Pals.

My play is called "Zombie Attack"

Art Attack: Don Binney

We are learning to create art inspired by Don Binney.

I'll know I can do this when I have created a landscape with a foreground, middle, and background.

My bird and my background are coloured using pastels and natural colours.

Something I learned was that natural colours in nature can be green blue and grey.

Writing: Information Roprt

I am learning to write an information report.

I'll know I can do this when I can write a report with a title, classification, description, location and a group of facts about a subject.

Something I found  hard was  getting it done on time.

Maths Porotitaha

I am learning to divide items into 1/2 and 1/4.

I'll know I can do this when I can use materials to show 1/2 and 1/4 of a set

and split groups evenly into 1/2 and 1/4.

Something I found hard was my follow up activities.

Reading Kaki Auau

I am learning to focus on reading for a set purpose (skimming & scanning).

I'll know I can do this when I can find the key ideas and record the key ideas.

Next time I will get all my SML's done.

Leamer Qualities

I am learning how to empathise.

I'll know I can do this when I can show a variety of ways to show empathy.

I show empathy by putting myself in someone else's shoes.

Peace Week 2017

I have been learning about Peace Week.

Peace Week is an annual tradition organised by The Peace Foundation every year. You can learn more about The Peace Foundation by following this LINK.

As a way to learn about Peace Week I did three different Peace Week activities.

With Miss Brennan we created a poster to help promote peace and Peace Week.

With Mrs Baker we made hand print doves and wrote messages of peace on them.

With Mr Horn we looked at the symbols of peace such as the dove and created origami doves.

Student Led Conference

My highlight at my student led conference was writing because I told mum the name of my monster.

I am most proud of sharing my reading  because I shared all of handwriting card.

I think my parents enjoyed my Maths because when I was doing my follow up I said that we had to do times tables and showed them how to do it.

Next time I would like to have more time to share.

Something I learned was to use a key to show what each picture represents.

Dance

I enjoyed hip hop because of the granny walk.

Punchy Poetry

I have been learning to create an example of similes.
This is my example: the mud was as wet as the weather.
Next time I would like to learn more about poetry e.g rhyming.

Taiao Programme

I have been learning to be safe around the kitchen.
We made apple crumble.
I learned how to use sharps.
A question I have is why do we need to grate the apples?

 

Learning to Send a Photo

Recorder

We are learning to understand musical notation and apply this on the recorder.

The Writing Process

I am learning to

• helped my audience to know a lot about something (how to keep safe in the sun).
• Included many important topic words.

We were writing about sun safety. To help us develop our ideas we made a sun safety collage: we had to protect the stick figure from the sun. This helped us with our ideas for our writing.
